Heidi’s Surgery

by Slack, on August 29th, 2001

Heidi’s surgery went fine. She no longer has any wisdom teeth to bother her. Now she has two swelled pouches of tissue in their place. :) Doctor says she should be fine after about 2 weeks, and she sure is in a lot of pain right now. They have her on percosets right now and it seems to help a tad, but unfortunately, she is very sensitive to any codine derivative. The pain is becoming manageable now so looks like she is on the road to recovery.

Our New House

by Slack, on August 26th, 2001

We should be moving into our new house next weekend. We’ve done lots of work on the house so far.

Heidi, with the help of Shauna, has painted the rooms, installed contact paper, changed a skylight cover, and throughly cleaned the whole place. She also trimmed the vegetation (of which there is quite a bit). Speaking of trim, she added some to the closet in the master bedroom, and for her first time she did quite well. Actually, she did quite well even if it weren’t her first time.

I cleaned the pool up, though I need to give the spa some attention. Retaining the help of my handy brother-in-law, David, we managed to get the brick wall raised, installed toilet seats, fire & carbon monoxide sensors installed, 3 ceiling fans installed, workshop prepped to fill and of course threw a party (hardly rather, since we had no furniture and no forks).

Throughout next week, we will get the new carpets installed, fill the workshop, buy some furniture, and of course Heidi will install her pink flamingos.

Life is pretty good, although Heidi is not looking forward to her surgery on her wisdom teeth tomorrow. :(

Welcome Gabriella!

by Slack, on August 23rd, 2001

Well, on the 20th Naomi gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, named Gabriella. I haven’t had time to go see the bundle of joy yet, but I hope to tomorrow. Been too busy wtih work, and the new house.

Gabriella Denise was born at 9:34pm, weighed 6 pounds 9 ounces, and mom, dad, and baby are doing wonderful. Heidi says she is cute as a button, and from what I understand nobody better call her Gabby! :)

My Father…

by Slack, on August 22nd, 2001

Well, my dad is still having problems with his surgery. Apparently they’ve discovered something which is “cause for concern” in the area where his surgery was. He is going to have it checked by a surgeon soon via ultrasound scan. Please wish for the best, and pray it isn’t something serious. If you’d like to wish him well, you can write to him at daddyslack@slacksplace.com.

The New House

by Slack, on August 22nd, 2001

Well, Heidi has been hard at work getting the new house painted and ready to move into. We should be all moved in and ready by the week after next. She finished the Master Bedroom and it looks wonderful! She did a great job! I am so proud of my little painter. :)

The pool and spa are great. We’ve been testing those out after work now. The spa is great for Heidi after she is done working on all the stuff she is doing. She is working so hard. It’s all thanks to her that we will move in when we do.

We are getting a new carpet put in on Tuesday. I hope all goes well with that.

So far so good! I sure hope everything works out well with moving our internet connection over there. Of course this is what I am worried about most. Go figure.

Invite Internet

by Slack, on August 20th, 2001

I was just chatting with Greg over IM about Invite Internet, Inc. Seems we both agree that their service seriously lacks. In my opinion, it’s a damn pity they have any business at all. They touted themselves as a bargain hosting service when I signed up with them long ago. After continuously being upset with the service I was receiving from them, I soon abandoned ship.

Unfortunately, this was after I recommended them to Greg and a couple other friends of mine. Greg was hosting his business with them and all was well until they decided to move their NOC to Denver. This is when they showed their true colors. Greg’s business was out of commission for days on end. Invite apparently blamed it on Internic and the time it takes to propagate a new domain IP.

I think it was the fourth or fifth day of down time when Greg agreed with me that Invite was staffed by neophytes (in my own personal opinion of course). Not that I am an expert by any means, but I know enough to sniff out a moron in the ever crowded scene of internet hosts.

This is why I still think TetraWeb (find their site on my links page) is really and truly the ONLY host out there. Don’t waste your time, folks, check out TetraWeb! You wont be sorry!

Tell em I sent ya!

Oh, and Invite Internet, Inc has the honor of being my inspiration for the new Slack’s Place Shit List! Stay tuned! Thanks Invite!
