The Eye of the Hurricane

by Slack, on December 17th, 2002

Well, the 18th of December is when we should reach the eye of the hurricane so to speak. We’re shutting the store down (just the shipping), and I will be done with my A+ test… Let’s hope I pass. On a funny note, typical of my luck, someone decided to swipe my A+ book. Yes, that’s right, it’s crunch time for me regarding this test and some schmuckpuppy decides to walk with my only study guide. Some peoples’ kids! I swear!

Well, gotta cut it short, because it’s almost time to get up for work tomorrow… Ugh… ROFL!

Well, things have been crazy

by Heidi, on December 13th, 2002

Well, things have been crazy here. TDN is doing very well. We are keeping ourselves very busy with all of our orders. November was our best month yet for sales and December is about to take the lead. I know this is due to christmas, but I am so excited to see it actually working. Hopefully by this time next year our sales in current months will be what we do in a day. I am also very busy with Sweetmunkies. I have had 20 orders for gift basket and tote bag sets. I am encouraged that my products are getting to be more refined and look and smell better every day. I plan to define my product line in 2003 and by mid 2003 have my website up and running. YAY :)

The Lupron is almost out of my system and should be finished in the beginning of Jan. Hopefully soon after I will be able to try IVF again. It has been wonderful not being in pain these past few months and I wish I could feel like this all the time. I hate the side effects of the drug, but the alternative is far worse. Wish us luck on getting pregnant. We need all the help/luck/good wishes/prayers we can get :)

Mom#2 is going in for surgery next week to have the cancer along with her thyroid removed. We wish her well and will be there to help. I hope she will be well enough to enjoy Christmas. The docs say her prognosis is good.

We had a very nice Thanksgiving here at the house. We had my mom, my sis and her fam, mom #2, allen’s aunt and uncle and cousins over. Jessica stopped by with Yance and it was so cool to see her even for only a few minutes. The highlight of the day was when we had a fire in the oven!! We cooked a 24 pound freakin’ huge turkey and apparently the grease dripped onto the coils and bottom of the oven. Holy cow!! It scared the crappola out of me! I SO thought I would handle a situation like that much better than I did. An hour later with fans hooked up everywhere and doors open, we were back in business. :) The turkey was fine and tasted pretty good for a turkey. Poor bird. I know I am a supa freak, but do you think all the birds (pigeons, etc.) on Thanksgiving feel like they are in hell with the smell of turkeys cooking everywhere? As Allen would tell me, “you are a freak and all the birds are thinking is “chirp, chirp, mmmm worm, chirp chirp.”

I have the house decorated for Christmas- it looks very nice. I have our 7 ft. fiber optic tree up in the LR and a 4 ft. fiber optic tree in the dining room. There are lights strung around the LR and colored lights around the dining room window. Our stockings are hung by the chimney with care ;) I hope next year we will decorate outside.

Anyhoo, that is about it for now. Have a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Joyous Kwanzaa :) Peace on Earth.

The Frayed Ends of Sanity!

by Slack, on December 5th, 2002

Holy headless chickens, Batman! This past week has been friggin nuts! The Christmas rush is here and ringin jingle bells. Our business sales have hit Warp 7. No complaints here, but damn, we are two frazzled individuals. Heidi has decided that Real Estate school would just be dumb when * has become a full time job. She is going to take over a large part of the administrative work and help grow this baby to a toddler. Wish us luck on that.

In addition to that, I’ve been placed under the gun to get my A+ certification for work. I have to have that done by the 20th. Ugh. Shouldn’t be a problem, I think. I know I know, A+ is the easiest cert to get. A geek like me should be able to do it no problem. Issue is I am 110% self taught with computers. So, I have trouble with the terminology. Oh well. I’ll do my best.

Also, as per usual with my behavior patterns, I’ve piled yet more onto my plate by finally taking the plunge into the Open Source Community. I’ve got Linux 2.4 installed and am in the process of trying to replace my out of the box Router with a custom Linux config. So far, it’s been very fun. I hate to say it, but I am soooo impressed with the Linux OS that I am going to give my Macintosh the heave ho. Actually, it will just get the heave ho into Heidi’s room since she loves Mac, and needs a faster machine anyway. I’m venturing back into the Intel world again. Good to be back.

I’m writing this now on Linux via the Konqueror web browser. hehehe Good stuff! Well, wish us luck in our endeavors, and we’ll be in touch.
