Net+, PHP, and Perl…Oh my!

by Slack, on March 31st, 2003

No exciting news here, kiddies. Things are pretty much the same. Heidi’s not preggers, work is work, and TDN only supports our fast food habit in addition to its own bills.

I am, however, expanding my horizons and learning about PHP and Perl. I got sick of using other people’s shopping carts for my businesses, so I decided to make my own. Talk about scary. Fun stuff tho. I tell ya, this was my calling. I enjoy code. Code rocks. I live for code. Well, code, comics, and scotch. :) I’m also learning the finer points of networking. I have to get my Net+, MCP, and some other MC-something certification for work. Feels good to be learning again. :)

I’m smoking again. I suck. What can I say? I’m a weak man with no will power. There. My next quit day (never give up, never surrender) will be around April 21 when we move into our new house. I like quitting smoking whenever there is some kind of big change in our life. It helps mark it for me. So wish me luck going forward, and take care out there.

War, and sleeplessness.

Heidi is in horrible pain due to the endo again. Soon it will be time for surgery. She goes for a consult soon. We’ll keep you posted of the details. I sure hope we see some dramatic results this time, instead of, “Well, I took a look around in you and couldn’t do much of anything. Sorry. Here’s my bill.” One of the worst things about growing up is realizing that doctors *DON’T* actually know everything.

We’re at war! Not that I’m excited about it. It’s war for shit’s sake. But, I am eager to see Saddam’s head on a platter. I fully back Bush in nipping this problem before it blossoms. Think of it like this. You’ve got eight kids standing in a line who just got new hunting rifles. Seven of them are known to be decent, responsible kids. They do their chores, obey their parents, and even help little old ladies across the street. One kid, however, is not this way. He is known to be a bully, shirks his chores, hates his parents, and kicks little old ladies in the street. So, they’re all standing there with their new hunting rifles. None of them have shot anyone or done anything wrong for the moment. But, you bet your bippy I’m gonna snatch the gun away from that bad seed — and maybe smack him around a bit. :) Just one man’s opinion.

Another Rocket Ride from Hell

So, what’s news? Sheesh. Where to begin…

We found out Heidi is not pregnant after the latest implant. That really sucks because it was our last set of embryos… Now, she has to go for surgery to try and rectify the situation that way. Poor girl, I feel so bad for everything she has to endure for this. With any luck our insurance will carry us through another round.

About the only good thing to report would be that we just purchased a new house! BAM! Finally! Something good! This is an actual “new” home. Nobody has lived there before or used the facilities! lol This will be our second attempt at getting a “new” home. I hope this one goes better than the first. Hopefully we can get some pictures on to the site soon.

Our businesses are doing ok. Not super good, but they are still paying the bills.

So much for a better year.
