A real-time account of life among the Earthlings…

Mexico!

by Slack, on June 24th, 2003

This past weekend we took a very nice trip to Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point) Mexico. This was my first time in the country since I was a kid long ago — my first trip into the country when I was of age to understand all about corrupt governments, bad water, and all the things that this world has to offer.

Despite my preconceived notion of our neighbor, I had quite the time down there. The resort was nothing short of outstanding! We stayed in a 3 bedroom condo on the 5th floor with an ocean view. We weren’t quick enough to get one of the rooms with the ocean view however, and got pimped into the room with the view of the big bright porch light. But, that’s ok, we’ll be quicker next time! ;) I drank a lot less than I had expected I would — I did forget my bottle of scotch though… There was quite a few of us along on the trip and we had quite the time bouncing between condos to mingle and party.

It’s amazing how the ocean draws one in. As much as I fancy myself a mountain type of guy, everytime I visit the ocean (even the Mexican ocean — for it is not the Hawai’ian ocean) I am 150% at peace with everything. Nothing stresses me during these times except the thought of having to leave.

We’ve got a tentative plan for Rocky Point in October. Everyone’s sunburns should be sufficiently healed by that time, and we’ll all be ready for more partying!

Oh, and no pictures because Heidi and I are LAME! We forgot our camera…

Camping, etc.

So, over my last weekend Heidi and I went camping. We went to Mt. Graham, and it was great fun. There were damn fire restrictions because we live in the friggin desert, but that’s just something you have to deal with. We found a campsite where they were allowed, and it was deserted so it’s all good. As we drove in, there was this big sign that read, “HIGH BEAR ACTIVITY IN THE AREA…” Anyone who knows me, knows how much that sign made me feel oh so comfortable. I guess there’s a price to everything. We only ended up staying one night, since we forgot pillows (they’re important to us), and it was friggin 40F at night. To us desert dwellers that is a bit nippy, and we were not as prepared as we would have liked to be. All in all, a damn good trip that did wonders for my sanity.

In other news, life seems a tad more upbeat lately. Don’t know why, don’t care to find out why. I’m just going to enjoy it and hope it gets better. We finally got nightstands for our bedroom, and soon we’ll have rocks and trees in our backyard! Yay! Also, my shipment from Tiger Direct should be in soon. Computer upgrades rule my world. ;)
