A real-time account of life among the Earthlings…

Back to the Grind

by Slack, on September 20th, 2003

Well, after 10 days off, getting back to work sure sucks butt… I couldn’t have asked for a better day at work tho. Been real light today which is nice considering how busy it was when I left for vacation.

In other news, the twins are fine. Heidi and I went to our “regular” OB doc last Thursday, and he turned out to be very nice, intelligent and patient. We’re quite pleased. And to make matters better, he’s a Machead. :) Apparently he hates Windows! See? I told ya he was intelligent! His office is outfitted in iMacs all around. :) Yay for him!

Lastly, my Gentoo workstation crashed… Ugh… And in a show of karmic torture, my Windows box ran along just fine. :) lol Heidi’s XP machine, however, crashed as well. I won’t even begin to claim to know what happen to Heidi’s machine. The standard “keep looking around under the hood” troubleshooting method finally fixed it. I hate that. As for my Gentoo boxes, I had a flag set that gave me bleeding edge code (read: unstable). It finally bit me in the arse. I removed the flag and recompiled the systems — my server came out fine, but my workstation took a nose dive. :) I could have fixed it I’m sure, but I didn’t want to spend the time. Rebuilding is easy enough, even if it does take a few days! :) The basics of the system should be done tonight, and then I can start fine tuning. :) Whoopie!

Our Trip to Show Low…

This last weekend we took some time and went up to Show Low to see some friends and just hang out and enjoy the mountain air. It was a very nice, and relaxing trip. Much needed. Along the way, I decided to take some pics, and share with everyone. :) (Bet yer all just so excited!) The first pic there, is of us in the car waiting at the doggie spa to drop off Kahlua. You see, we were under the impression that it opened at 9am, so we made plans to get out of town at 9am… Didn’t open until 10am…

The next pic is our Wonderdog, Kahlua being a good girl waiting for the doggie spa. :)

The next pic here, is a perfect example of why we needed to get out of the city. This is the typical mornic behavior you see day to day when the temperature is 157 million degrees in the shade. People in this town routinely stop inside the intersection and make traffic go around them… Lasltly is a picture of Heidi in our favorite mountain town. We’re happy at this point and have forgotten the troubles of shitsville. Oh, and we met a strange creature at the hotel. Click here to see this thing. I think it was a centipede, but who knows… Heidi thought it was cute. :)

I’ve inlcuded some more pics in the extended entry. If you are a motorcycle rider, you will appreciate them. I took them specifically for a friend of mine in DC who just bought a new bike. Since he frustrated me by telling the world about his new bike (you see, I don’t have a bike anymore), I thought I’d return the favor and remind him of Salt River Canyon — where he cannot ride said bike (at least not with out a long trip). ;)

Yay!!! What a GREAT day!

Well, the most important, and most joyful news we have is that the twins are ok. :) We got to see one of them really well. He’s quite the showman, upstaging his wombmate (hahahaha that word never ceases to crack me up) every chance he gets. Do I know it’s a he? No, but Heidi has a feeling it will be two boys. ;) Wouldn’t that be kewl? The other baby was hiding quite well. We didn’t get a good look at him/her. We did see him move around quite a bit, tho not as much as his wombmate (LOL). So, bottom line, they are both doing well, and even tho the still pic I have here may not do it justice, they really are looking like actual babies now. :) Now if I can just get our new doc to give us a video!

In other news, our big screen TV arrived today. Mom was here to receive it. Turns out the delivery crew set it up and everything. That was supposedly an extra $150 charge! So, we saved from the company discount I get (Spacely does have it’s perks), and got free shipping and setup. Talk about gonga! I really should be going to bed right now, but I find myself mysteriously wanting to watch the Star Wars series all night! The best part? It has a computer monitor plug in the back, so I can bring my gaming rig out there and do some real gaming! Heidi is thrilled about this!! lol

VACATION!!!!

by Slack, on September 10th, 2003

And so it begins. My September vacation! YAY! 10 days off where I can do whatever I want! :) Yippee! And it turns out we might be getting our new big screen TV this week too! Talk about awesome timing! :)

We’ll be heading up north to our favorite little mountain town this weekend to see Greg and Bobbi. Heidi and Bobbi need some preggers bonding time. Bobbi is pregnant with a girl. ANOTHER girl. Poor Greg! lol

As for our pregnancy, Heidi is feeling a bit better now that she isn’t taking those damn progesterone shots. Still sick at night, but better is better. :) We go to the doctor tomorrow to see how everything is. It will be our last visit probably if everything is doing well. Then we’ll have to find a regular OB for the rest of the term. I don’t really want to as I’ve grown quite accustomed to Dr. Gelety. But, this is the way it goes. He has to move on and help another couple. :)

That’s the news, and I’m outa here…….

What a Dumbshit….

Ok, so I’m a lunkhead… Who knew there was a focus on the damn webcam? I thought the image just sucked… LOL!!!

My Spare Time

by Slack, on September 3rd, 2003

So, once again I find myself sitting awake at very early hours of the night. This is how I spend my time… Tonight I decided I would finally get my TV card and webcam working. I succeeded in getting the webcam working.

However, after much hair pulling and visits to #Gentoo, I found that my TV card is not supported well in Linux. Turns out Heidi’s card is supported nicely. :) So, I suppose I will be swapping the cards out. Ugh…. So, I think I am going to go try and get some sleep in order to salvage something of a day tomorrow…. nite…
