Racing Dreams and Miserable Reality

by Slack, on October 31st, 2003

So, last night I had the most cool dream. I was at probably about 8000 feet on an unknown mountain. They had just re-asphaulted the road, and there was a brand new CBR1000RR sitting next to me. I had the keys… Oh so sweet. So, of course I hopped on and rode the mountain twisty until I woke in the morning and was basked in the miserable reality that is my world… The sad truth is I am so broke… Getting a new bike is not a near term reality for me. Especially not a new bike of the caliber like that in my dream. Oh well… Such is life. The days of dot.com disposable stock money is over, and we are truly left spoiled by it’s fun. We do have some things to show for thanks to the dot.com boom, but not nearly as much as we should… We didn’t play it right… We were quite young, however.

I do have twins on the way, and that blessing is far more important than anything bringing me down these days. Nothing else really matters beside them. They are my world now, and for that I am happy. I can’t wait to see their faces and start our new life together. Then in 7 or 8 years, I may be buying them their first motorcycle, and first snowboard. Then we can all have fun! Now if I could just get Heidi on a bike, or a board! How sweet would that be!

Vacation…

by Slack, on October 23rd, 2003

So, Saturday my 10 day vacation will come to a close… There is nothing worse than a nice vacation coming to a close… Even if I had the “best” job on earth, I still would dread it. Not that my job is horrible or anything close to horrible. Well, it’s not horrible, anyway. But, come on, I’d like to live without the pressures of “paying bills”. Vacation is a little taste of that. The kewl thing is I get another 15 days off starting Nov 2nd! :) Yay! I have to spend some of that in training, but hey, that’s not bad!

So, over this vacation, I was watching I Love the 80′s… Because, well… I love the 80′s ;) I swear to god, I never thought about it before… Why was it called Donkey Kong!? There’s not one Donkey in the whole damn game! Why didn’t that bother me as a kid?

It other news, twins are doing fine. Heidi is starting to feel them moving, and no matter what she says, she’s glowing! :)

Ricochet

by Slack, on October 16th, 2003

Oh my god. If you haven’t discovered the digital crack that is Ricochet, I warn you, stay away! Basically the game goes like this:

1. Start game.
2. Realize it is the ass-crack of dawn and you haven’t slept in days!

It’s an old half-life mod, that’s very reminicient (how tha F do you spell that?) of the Deadly Discs of Tron. :) I haven’t had this much fun on a computer game since the days of Speedball on my old 486. INSANE! Definitely stay away from this game… Ok… Must sleep… Holy crap… What day is it?!

Kill Bill

by Slack, on October 10th, 2003

Tarantino just rocks… What more can you say? :) If you haven’t seen Kill Bill yet, you must. Especially if you are a Tarantino fan. The best part was there were no wailing babies, and there were no cell phones going off in the movie. There was, however, Mr. Uncomfortable Laughing whenever there was any gore on the screen. There’s always someone… Anyway, it was an awesome flick! A must see!

Slack Radio

by Slack, on October 7th, 2003

Yay! I finally hooked up my streaming MP3 server. :) Now I can have access to my music from anywhere in the world where I have an internet connection. :) Amazing what you can do with an old Pentium II 400! Anyone interested in doing this, I’d recommend checking out GNUMP3d!

Time for bed. Work tomorrow… Ugh….

Slack’s Haiku Du Jour

by Slack, on October 5th, 2003

Today’s Haiku is actually borrowed from Pyromancer… I nearly pissed myself when I read it. :) You’ll particularly like it if you work in a helpdesk environment.

Tech Support Haiku:

Take your computer

Now throw it out your window

and please kill yourself.
