Tomorrow is Another Day
by Slack, on January 22nd, 2004
Things are still moving along pretty well here in our little family. Rhys is gaining weight, officially up to 3lbs 7.6ozs. He’s still doing all the things a little baby should do: pooping, peeing (once all over the nurse), sleeping and fussing. His cultures so far have all come back negative. They drew more cultures today from blood, aspirations, and urine (poor guy). Hopefully these also will come back negative. On the very positive side, his aspirations are no longer yellowish. They aren’t clear — they’re cloudy. They are testing the new cultures for fungal infections.
Today, Lola (that’s what you call a filipino grandma) got to touch him for the first time. He didn’t seem to mind her company at all and I hope Lola enjoyed it too. :)
We’re both quite tired, and nurses are beginning to verbally nudge us to get out and go home. It’s much easier said than done, but we are trying. It’s just so hard to push it all out of your mind… Well, I’m off to bed and tomorrow is another day.
Rhys and Lola
Yesterday was a memorable day for me. I got to touch my grandson for the first time! Such a wonderful feeling and I was overjoyed when he opened his eyes a few times. He’s really precious.
All my love & prayers,
Mom

I hope you both are hanging in there. Rhys is a fighter! I love how he gets back at the nurses by peeing on them ;)
Take care!
Thanks for writing me back! I know you both are very busy and time is precious. I am glad to hear good news about Rhys. What a beautiful picture with his grandma being able to touch him, so beautiful and I’m sure, very needed. There is nothing like a loved ones touch no matter how young! I am always here for you both, and sending my love and thoughts daily. Take care.
What a precious moment for the whole family—”Lola” getting to touch her grandson! Congratulations to all of you! Go team!
