A real-time account of life among the Earthlings…

Keep on Keepin On

Let’s see. Haven’t updated in awhile. Right now, I’m up late just having got done working on an Apache server with Drewberry. Heidi is in bed early because we have to get up early tomorrow. Rhys has an upper GI scan scheduled. He’s refluxing some of his food. Which is why he is having problems with the periodic feeds. If he is fed little amounts at a time he doesn’t seem to have an issue. They are worried about him having a blockage of some sort in his system. Right now it’s unknown, but this will tell us for sure if there is a problem of this type or not.

He’s taking medicines to help with the reflux. It could be he just has reflux… If he’s anything like daddy, I’m sure this is it. :) If we find this to be the case, then they can be more aggresive with the meds toward helping that particular issue.

For awhile he was back on the CPAP and he hated every second of it. They did this to help with his breathing. Couple days back he had a rough day and they thought he was just tiring out. So they put him back on continuous feeds, and back on CPAP to give him a break. He hates CPAP. I just kept thinking that they just need to slow the feeds and give him more lung treatments. But, they know best… The next day found Rhys’ CPAP discontinued…. because he didn’t need it…. I swear…

Pretty much everyday she can, Heidi has been holding him for extended periods. Yesterday he even tried breast feeding… Didn’t quite do it, but it’s a start. His primary nurse was surprised to hear about it (it was her day off) and said that it was a brave move. She wouldn’t have done it, because he could have aspirated the milk… She said it was too early. But, each nurse is different and has their own opinion. I tend to go with his primary nurses since they know him quite well now.

I got to hold Rhys last week, and it was great. :) Here’s some pics of us.

Last but not least, here’s a pic of Rhys’ room. Heidi did the painting and it turned out great if you ask me. :)

Well, that’s the news, and I’m off to bed. :) See you guys on the flip side!

Alright, I don’t know if you guys see it but take a look at that second picture. Rhys is like, “Hey Bebe, what’s up.” He’s totally got that Orlando Bloom thing goin’ on! Someone tell me I’m not imagining this… You guys see it right?

Heidi, I wanted to tell you that you look beautiful in your pictures, your strength continues to amaze and inspire me everyday.

I have read your pages and i’m in tears…i can’t even put into words what I feel. On dec. 6th ,2003 I delivered my twin boys at 25 weeks 2 days gestation. They were and still are so sick. Everyday is a struggle..the emotions we feel are wild. Good days, great days and shitty leave me alone days. I wish you all the best and I’m so very sorry about your daughter. I am amazed and amused with your sense of humour! It will keep you going and help your wife to feel your love and support..i know without my husbands sense of humour and strength I’d go even more crazy than i already am! Beth

Steph, I’d comment on your take of Rhys and Heidi, but I am afraid I am quite biased. ;)

Beth, we’re hanging on with ya! We understand completely! It’s bitter-sweet to know someone else understands the trials we are going through.
