It Takes All Kinds…

by Slack, on September 27th, 2004

Ok, I just had to post this pic Charles sent me…

This one has genius written all over it. ;)

It’s even better than a quote I have from a buddy of mine (sorry pal, had to post it), “Doctors tell pregnant ladies that smoking 3 cigarettes a day is just like not smoking at all…” In his defense, we were drinking. :)

Now I’m not goin all “smoker hater” on you guys because I quit, but just don’t pretend it’s not bad for you. :) Sheesh!!! :)

Update From Doctor

by Slack, on September 24th, 2004

Ok, so we got the results of the probe back from the doctor. These are the pearls of wisdom bestowed upon us resulting from the horrible test my son had to go through… Ready?

Here it is: (1) Rhys has reflux. (2) He should keep taking medicine….

…. What a fucking newsflash.

Here’s another pic of him in those horrible splints and the NG Probe.

Rhys’ PH Probe

by Slack, on September 24th, 2004

So, today my son got his PH probe placed… Well, if you remember, Rhys has an issue with reflux… This probe is basically to confirm that…I suppose… Anyway, the doctor says he has to be admited to the hospital to be observed for 24 hours because that’s how long the probe stays in. Heidi get’s him to the hospital at around 9am-ish… Around 1pm-ish they let her know the hospital is full and they can’t admit him… Our concern was if he took the tube out on his own — which longtime readers might remember he is very capable and likely to do — that we would have to take him to the emergency room to get it put back in… That’s what the doctor said we’d have to do in order to complete the test… Whatever… Anyway, we don’t want him around other sick people… They tend to gather in the emergency rooms — do the math.

So, the RN tells us that if he took the tube out they wouldn’t even try to put it back in. (Oh really?) So, she says she will call the doctor to be sure. Calls the doctor, and he says to the effect of “Yeah yeah, it’s ok if they go home…” When we were in his office he said to the effect of, “Oh no, he has to be admitted so he doesn’t remove the tube and end up in the emergency room.”

Ok, I’m going to pause for a minute… I hate the University Hospital here… One of the Top Hospitals in the Nation… Dude, that’s scary.

Anyway, all is well. Rhys is handling things fine and isn’t half as fussy/uncomfortable as I thought he would be. They said his stomach PH would be around 4 when he ate and not to worry. :) So, he ate, and it dropped to 0.8 :) If you remember from science class, that’s pretty damn acidic!

So we’re supposed to get some kind of results tomorrow is what we’re expecting… Watch. It will be something like, “Hmmmmm… That’s interesting…” I hate the day I realized doctors don’t know everything….

Here’s a pic of Rhys in his splints and taped up with a tube down his throat via his nose. :(

Trip to the Salon

by Slack, on September 22nd, 2004

So, tonight my sister-in-law was so kind as to color my hair… I know… I’ve never colored my hair, and since we have a stylist in the family, that makes the price more than right (THANKS NAOMI!!). Against my better judgement I decided to share the escapade here…

I haven’t been to a salon in years… Not since I had long hair had I needed to go to a salon, and now since I’ve colored my hair I’m as good as banned from the barber. You know, they can sense this shit.

So I arrived at the salon and felt a bit like Al Bundy at a symphony… There was a sweet old lady there who glanced at me side eyed, and other patrons who were obviously not in the “working class” — at least not in the working class that I’m in!! :) Everyone was very nice, and the owners of the salon passed out chocolate truffles!!! That’s the first time I’ve had one of these very evil creations… Yeah, I’ll be buying a box of those puppies tomorrow!

So, anyway, first in the process of getting your hair colored they put this cap on you. They pull it down as hard as they can, basically to fit it to your scalp. Good times. Then they use what resembles a dental scraper to pick out strands of hair to color. They mix up the coloring and then apply it. Then stick you in the cranial oven to roast a while.

Finally you get the wash and the style to present the final product (boy I forgot how nice it is to have someone wash your hair)! Ta da!

Not such a big ordeal and I’m quit happy with it! Yay! Boy, talk about an interesting update for everyone to read about… I know! Thrilling! Have fun out there!

No Bike, No fun, Just Noodles

by Slack, on September 19th, 2004

So, here I sit, workin on my website (http://www.housetrevethan.com). It’s almost ready for a general release. As of this minute I am officially burnt. I’ve spent 90% of my free time as of late working on graphics, PHP backend crap, and just general HTML and CSS design. Today is a race day on Speedvision so that is contributing to my lack of motivation. It’s also making me really lust after getting a bike. Man, I hate being broke. What’s worse is it’s the perfect time to get a bike right now. All the sales and whatnot. If we had some cash, Heidi could get her truck and I could get my bike. :) Oh well. It will have to wait….

Yesterday we decided to go to Toys R Us to get some new toys for Rhys. He’s been really fussy lately, and we figure a big part of it is because he is bored. Also a big part of it is that he is teething! YAY! Anyway, it’s been a long long time since I set foot in a Toys R Us, and well, I don’t ever want to go back again. It’s like walking into the mind of a derranged psychopath! All the beeping, clicking, yelling, and mindless zombies walking around the severely undersized aisles… Yeah, talk about a fun time.

We went to the plastic surgeon again to have him check on Rhys’ palette and he says that Rhys will not need surgery afterall. So that’s good news. :) We’ll wait and see how he does with speech.

So, here’s a link for all you noodleheads (Charles). Noodle Shop. Swan and Camp Lowell, baby!

Enjoy!

Web Hosting and Other Shiz

by Slack, on September 10th, 2004

So, it’s been ahile since I updated the site… As you can imagine things have been quite busy around here. The big project right now, is moving my web hosting server and all the customers over. Everyone is moved over, and now we are doing the proverbial “smoke test”. So far, no smoke. :) I hope it stays that way. Acquisition of the new server, however, means I’m in the red again and need new customers… So, if you or someone you know needs a web hosting server, contact me at ptrevethan@housetrevethan.com. The site is still being created, but I hope to be done soon. The really good news for the biz, though, is I can offer up Dedicated Servers now. :) That should help expand biz a little bit. :)

In other news, Rhys is about the same. He’s starting to get the hang of sitting on his own. He still hasn’t quite mastered it, but I think he will very soon. He’s been pretty fussy lately too, and not going to bed as easily as he did in the past. We’re wondering if he’s teething. He’s trying new foods and what not now too, so that is nice. I really hope he doesn’t develop dad’s screwed up food aversions. Heidi is determined not to let that happen. :)

Over Labor Day weekend I went up to Show Low and let loose with Greg and the gang. We went shooting at a nice range up there… Here’s a pic.

It was pretty neat. That pic was taken from the road. So you just walk through that gate, draw, and fire. :) Fun stuff. :) We had 3 .45 ACP 1911 style pistols, a 30/30, .22 rifle, 12-guage shotgun with a pistol grip, a Walther P99, and a metric ass load of ammo. :) Good times.

After that, we retired to Greg’s game room and did the geek thing. :) Played Risk, and Texas Hold’em as we drank the night away. :)
