The Women in My Life

by Slack, on October 12th, 2004

Ok, so today I decided to write about two of the women in my life – my mom and my wife. Boy, talk about an opening statement to land you in the dog house!

Read On…

Actually, this is more of a quick article about two funny pictures I captured which really says a lot about each of them. We’ll begin with my wife.

I captured this picture late one night after I arrived home from work. We’re both on some pretty evil diets… Well, her’s is evil, mine is just mildly torturous. Needless to say, she’s lost somewhere on the number (I’ve lost count) of 20 lbs on her diet… I’ve lost 6 lbs… Anyway, I find her sitting at the table reaching into a box of unknown to me hippy food… I knew it was hippy food, because the picture on the box looked like it was sand cereal. so, I sit down next to her and notice that the box advertises its contents, and tries to appeal to consumers by exclaiming, “Crunchy Fiber Twigs!”

That’s right! It’s a bowl of sticks! I’m holding one of the “twigs” in the picture.

So of course, Heidi leaps to defend her rabbit food, “It’s good! Taste it!” As I eat the stick, she says, “See? Told ya! Tasts good huh?”

“Uhh… No, it tastes like STICKS!!” I had to try another to be sure… Yep… Sticks… Granted, each one had some honey glaze crap on it — but that just made it taste like sticks covered in honey glaze crap… I will never understand her choice in food… That’s not food! That’s what food eats! :D

FULL DISCLOSURE: The dog will sometimes turn away from the food I eat… Not sure what that says…

Which leaves me with mom… Not to long ago, my uncle came out west for a visit and was so nice to redo my mom’s kitchen. Updated it from the 1970s nightmare that it had been all my life. It looked like an avacado exploded all over the counters and appliances. It was horrid — at least in the year 2000 it was horrid. :) Anyway, she finally gets it updated. that includes new appliances with all the latest bells and whistles. No more knobs and cranks. Everything was push button and made a nice beep or click. :)

So I asked her before I had seen it how she liked it. She loved it! but, I’ll never get over what I found on top of her new state of the art stove when I checked it out, and to this day it is still there. :) This stove has all the nice features — timed cooking being the important one to keep in mind as you gaze on the picture. :)

I tease em, because I love them! :D
