Seventh Anniversary
by Slack, on March 27th, 2005
So, we made it. Seven years later, and we haven’t killed each other. :-D Last Friday was our seventh anniversary and it was the first time in a few years that we actually celebrated it — first time in years we actually went out and enjoyed ourselves. After everything that’s happened in the recent past, it was nice to go out, just the two of us, and have a nice, calm, relaxing night out.
This year Heidi said, “Let’s not get each other gifts… We’ll just spend the cash on a nice dinner…” Even though I know my wife means what she says, if you are a married man you know what fear that statement strikes… I ended up getting her seven roses and some wine, anyway. :) Just to be safe.
We decided to go to a restaurant that we’ve never been to before. As far as Tucson goes, it’s one of the “nicer” ones around. You have to wear your ballcap facing forwards. LOL It’s a relatively new Tucson spot called The Melting Pot. It’s a national chain, and if you’ve not tried this place out, you must! It was hands down awesome! That is of course, if you don’t mind paying twice the typical cost for your meal and cooking it yourself. Basically it’s a fondue place where they bring you the “raw materials” to your table and you cook/dip the foods yourself. You can start with a typical cheese fondue, then you have an entree where the pot is filled with boiling oil, and you cook your meats, or rabbit food if you are into that thing, in the oil. Then for dessert, they bring you choclate fondue and you can dip any of a number of things in it: marshmellows, pound cake, brownies, etc…
Even though this place was connected to a mall, it was awesome, nonetheless. Nice atmosphere, great staff (it was our server’s second day — great job Shane), and a nice private table. The table had a curtain you could draw after your meal was served. If we were any younger, that might have been dangerous!! hehehe The waiter said there were some interesting stories about these tables. ;)
We got to do all this, while Lola took care of the monster. Thanks Mom!!
So, anyway, there it is. :) Seven years with a wonderful lady! I’m very lucky that she’s still with me, and I can’t wait to celebrate our eighth.
