Merry Christmas!

by Slack, on December 25th, 2005

Today is shaping up to be the best Christmas EVAR! :) Let’s see, Heidi and I got to sleep in this morning. ;) We made a huge breakfast feast once we woke:

* Heidi’s Mom’s Cinnamon Rolls (de-freakin-lectable)
* Bacon (burnt to a crisp just like I love it)
* Pancakes w/ Vermont Fancy Maple Syrup (if you are a Maple Syrup fan, you know this is the Gods’ syrup)
* Hasbrowns
* Eggs
* Veggie Sausage (that was all Heidi)

So, yeah, feelin extra stuffed at the moment. :) Gifts galore to be had and they were all perfect. :) Rhys got a blender, and that has been the hit gift for him… Who knew… Looks like we got a little chef in the making. My hit gift of course is the bike, and Heidi’s will likely be her new bracelet but she’d have to tell you for sure. :)

As if all of that wasn’t enough, I still have one of the most beautiful rides to look forward to. I love this town sometimes. I mean, it’s the end of December and it’s 74F outside! WOOT!

Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and wish everyone a Merry Merry and a Happy Happy! See ya next year!!

New Server

by Slack, on December 18th, 2005

Well, if you are seeing this, then my move to the new server has been successful! WOOT! Thanks to Stu for providing a new home for my websites. It will be nice to concentrate on website design rather than plugging holes and keeping all the script kiddies out. :)

OMG! Yes!!!

by Slack, on December 17th, 2005

So, yesterday had to be one of the best days I’ve had in a long time! It didn’t start very promising, however.

I woke up in the morning and started my temporary ritual of checking the weather channel and tanking up on water before heading in to class. It was 34F out. That’s not very good news. Before all you blubber lined northerners chime in, that’s extra cold because I’m riding in on a motorcycle. But, Thursday I acquired my new jacket and gauntlets! YAY! I get to test out new equipment. So, the 34F was not bad at all thanks to technology.

Class was typical. I spent a week staring blankly at the projected images on the whiteboard. All of it, shit I already know.

“Are you learning anything,” inquires the hopeful instructor.

“No…”

Later he asks again, “How about now?”

“Christ…”

Anyway, after class let out I had a talk with my uber-supportive better half, and one long, whiny conversation later, I find myself taking the MCP exam which I’ve been dreading for about a year now. Just to be clear, the whiny part of the conversation was me trying to make more excuses to not take the test… Why so apprehensive? Let’s see, because I can’t score anything above 78% on the practice tests… No matter how much I study… Well, yeah. I passed the stupid test by a considerable margin… Christ. So, that sword is no longer dangling above my head. Time to get promoted at Spacely! :)

I got to celebrate my victory by taking a nice extended ride on the bike with a cute redhead on the back. :) Is there anything better than that? I mean, really! :) Take care out there!

Ahhhhh Therapy

by Slack, on December 13th, 2005

So, I’m sitting here in class right now. Spacely has sent me to the halls of higher learning in an effort to further my knowledge toward acquiring an MCP certification. Whoopie. I’m going to schedule a test for later this month even though I don’t feel ready to take it. I’m a horrible judge of my capabilities — at least that is the pattern I’ve established. Wish me luck on that, I will need it.

Today is a miserable rainy day… Well, it rained all last night, so it’s partly sunny but drenched. So, I opted not to take the bike to class. Perfect opportunity to take my car into the shop to fix that damn thermostat. I can’t tell you how theraputic this new bike has been. Oh MY GOD! Now that I’m insured I can fully enjoy my new wheels. It’s so true what they say, you will never find a motorcycle parked outside a shrink’s office. So far, I’ve almost dumped the bike once, and stalled it 4 times. hehehhe It’s taking a bit to get used to being on two wheels again, but it’s all coming back fast. :) I find myself looking for any excuse to go out now. What? You forgot eggs at the store? I’ll get it!! LOL!

Well, I guess I should start paying attention in class. I’ll update later. :) Take care out there!

Ok, Seriously, How About a FUCKING break!

by Slack, on December 9th, 2005

“Update your site! Update your site!”

OK! I’ll friggin update… As you’ve noticed, I’ve been rather absent from the cyberscene. Well, that’s because life is slightly crazy at the moment… Let’s start with the simplified list: My network is in the middle of being converted/upgraded, it’s the holidays (nuff said), I’m STILL trying to get study time for my MCP, and we’ve been doing a bit of financial reoganization. That’s kept us pretty busy around here. OH!! Silly me, I almost forgot. Rhys has croup!

Yes, that’s right, the little monster has been completely subdued by this horrible bug. He’s lost most of his voice, and writhes around in feverish agony all damn day long… into the night… into the morning… repeat as necessary… You should hear how pathetic it is when he uses what little bit of raspy voice he has left to mumble, “Teletubbies….” LOL!!!

I get to have a break from all of it at work, but Heidi is having to play the part of super mom. Rhys only wants her attention right now. I tried to play with him, or even just hold him, but he tollerates me only for maybe 10 minutes at the most. He’s pretty bad off right now. His throat looks like absolute shit. They thought he may have strepe on top of all this (tests were negative - whew)! He made a visit to the ER two nights ago and was given steroids to help with the swelling and irritation. They only lasted 36 hours. But, they sure helped out a bunch. He just had another visit to the doctor today, and is back on steroids again… Doc says he’s having such a rough time with this because of the extended intubation from the NICU… Makes sense… At any rate, homelife right now is not peachy and happy. It’s pretty fucking miserable. Oh, and I’m sick too… Thank god Heidi is not. She’s keeping us all alive, provided for, and sane. :) I have the best wife, and my son has the best mom!!

What else is new? Well, let’s see. We’ve purchased a bunch of new comfort items. :) Though, we have not yet been able to enjoy them much. It looks like I will finally be getting a bike! The only catch is this: They have the ‘05 model of the bike I want. It’s $11.8k out the door. The ‘06 model is $12.2k out the door. Insurance rates are the same for both - totally ridiculous, but the same. But, the ‘06 model is not arriving until March!!! DUDE! WTF! I don’t want to wait until March!!! So, we’ll see… I may have a new bike on Saturday, and I may not have one until March. FUCKING MARCH! I am hoping the near future will find me time to do some more work on this site and actually get it customized. I’m sick of this default layout!!! We’ll see…

Ok, I’m done. Go away. :-D
