Digging Out…

by Slack, on January 30th, 2006

Ever feel like no matter what you do there’s something there ready to beat you down? Of course you have; we all have. Right now I’m doing my best to dig out of that feeling. My mental energy is tapped, my work energy is tapped, and my motivation to do anything is tapped. “Wow”, you say, “What the hell is so damn bad?” Well, I don’t know. Nothing out of the ordinary, that’s for sure. In fact I have quite a few reasons to be happy at the moment… Well, perhaps not right at this very moment, but I mean that in general terms. :)

This week, I’m vowing to get involved in the things I enjoy again. I want to get cracking on the website work that I have promised out. One of the larger projects is half done, but really should be done by now. The other is such an easy project, I’m ashamed it’s not done yet. The guy will pay me with a bottle of Patron!! Why can’t I get motivated!? hahahah

One thing that has been my solace through all the troubles lately (both large and small) has been my bike. :) I’m so glad I finally got it, and I’m even more glad that Heidi has been ok with me getting it. Yesterday I was out for my ride down the 83. It’s such a beautiful stretch of road, and I will get pictures up here soon. A friend of mine introduced me to that ride. It’s speeders heaven what with the sweeping turns and long straights. You can really get the bike goin out there. So… I did…

“Duuuuuude! I’ve been riding this run for over 4 years and have seen a cop maybe 3 times!” he said when I asked about the police in the area…

Yeah, so I’m powering out of a corner and the speedo reads 90ish… Then in the opposite lane what do I see? Yepper, one of Arizona’s finest. He pulls to the side of the road and flips on his light bar as I scream by — the bike has slowed itself to about 75ish by now which is still speeding unfortunately. In the rear view all I see are his lights, and then a huge cloud of smoke as his tires spit up dirt trying to gain traction to, what I assume he wants to do, turn around and throw a book at me. :) I’m not much for running from the law, and I wasn’t about to start yesterday… So I slowed to 65ish as I went around another bend. Stayed around there, the whole way home… Cop never showed. But, as I was pulling into my garage I noticed a chopper flying pretty low right over my precise location… Copper Chopper? Couldn’t tell… We’ll see what time brings us.

Lastly, here’s a shot of “little man” at Lola’s.

Oh, and real quick before I go. If anyone can find a place where I can buy this, I’d be eternally greatful!

2006 (sixxxxxxxxxxxxx)

Ahhh, yes, it’s 2006. Six, being my lucky number, I have high hopes for this year. For once in a very very long time, everything seems to be going right. I can’t believe I’m saying that, but it’s true. 2005 was a rough year at the beginning, and toward the end, everything seemed to just fall into place. Not a moment too soon I might add.

I have all the standard resolutions this year: no smoking, kill an OCD or two, get in shape, have more fun, be more social, do something creative and profitable, blah, blah, friggin blah. I’m writing about this so I can hold myself accountable, and whomever may still be reading this can help hold me accountable as well. ;)

Let’s see, what’s news around here? Rhys is doing great. We’re both so excited about that. He stayed with Lola (grandma) over the weekend so Heidi and I could go out and party down like the crazy kids we are. We went out to dinner and then we went to this really huge place. Bright lights everywhere, lots of food and drinks to be had, tons of people milling about doing their thing. We were having a blast, laughing it up and just being wild and crazy. Oh yeah, baby, for New Years Heidi and I partied down at the local Fry’s Marketplace! LOL! Being the crazy foodies we are, we actually found ourselves having the best time of the night at friggin Fry’s!! FRY’S!!! We didn’t really have many “party” options (hence the be more social resolution), so we opted to go out to a nice dinner and retire back to the house to watch some movies. It’s been so long since I actually sat down to watch a movie that my body revolted with PAIN when the movie was done (hence the get in shape resolution).

Lastly, the best news of all around these parts is Heidi decided to go back to college! She’s nervous about it, but she is going to do fine. She’s going for a double Business Bachelor’s or something like that. I’m not an edjumacated person so I can’t talk much to it. :) hahaha My turn after her. ;)

So, I wish everyone luck with their respective resolutions, and I’ll see ya later in the year!
