Eve Mon is Badass!

by Slack, on March 30th, 2007

Ok, all you Eve-er’s out there. I know that I’m probably late to the game with this “tip”, but I just had to give my endorsement of this most wonderful of tools! Basically, it’s a handy dandy third party tool you can use to browse the items in the Eve universe, make ship comparisons, and the best part is the skill plans! I can’t tell you how useful that is. You pick an item/ship that you want to use, and the tool will build a skill progression plan to get you there in the quickest manner. It’s GREAT! Anyway, check it out at the link below:

Just wanted to share a little “collectible” Heidi and I stumbled across one day while we were shopping… LOL!

Vacation is Good!

by Slack, on March 25th, 2007

I just got back from San Diego. Family vacation with the H families. Unlike most of my vacations I decided to remain completely unconnected to the internet this time — and it was NICE! I had such a blast out there with all of them, so I just wanted to say thanks guys, for inviting me along! Sorry I had to leave early.

Yes, Heidi is still out there, having fun in the San Diego sun. They have quite the week planned, and I’m so very jealous! I get to go back to the working world early since I don’t have any vacation time to take. So, I have a long week ahead of me trying to pass the time while I wait for my beautiful redhead to get back. :) Hurry home honey!

My flight back was pretty uneventful. I checked in and begged for a window seat, since I like to look out the window — I mean who doesn’t? So, the lady told me she couldn’t get me a window seat on the first flight, but on the connecting flight I had a window seat! I was overjoyed and told her she’s my hero…

Here’s my hero’s idea of a window seat…

EVE Online

Arak Thelios

So, I recently got caught up into Eve again after a long hiatus. I quit awhile back because the game started to get boring. Well, turns out that is the nature of the beast really.

Eve is a Massively Multiplayer Online Game. One of the few to break away from the fantasy genre that has saturated the MMO market, and I dare say really the only one that has done the spaceship simulator genre. The only other MMO I can think of that attempted to go this route was Vendetta Online. I haven’t tried Vendetta out, but I plan to try it here soon. Is it just me, or does it seem that Opportunity is beating down the door with a battering ram?

Anyway, for you MMO fans out there — especially you space sim junkies out there — I’d highly recommend giving Eve a shot. It’s not just Evercrack in space, mind you. This is the chess of MMO’s. It’s not for a quick game. It’s not for people who don’t want to work. The creators often refer to it as a sandbox that they created for all of us to play in. It’s very much up to the players to create and mold the gaming experience. So, why did I leave for awhile? Well, because I wasn’t making my gaming experience. I was relying on the in game missions to tell me what to do to have fun. You really got to go out and make your own fun. So, I’m back, making my own fun now.

So, I just wanted to drop a quick plug for Eve. It’s really a great game that I fully support. I hope to see some of you joining up! It’s the perfect MMO for the intellectual gamer who wants a hugely full, and open ended experience. This isn’t your daddy’s MMO, people. ;)

Yay for Soju!

by Slack, on March 19th, 2007

I just came across this article, “A-B Dips a Toe into Soju with Ku“. I read that headline on my Slashfood RSS feed and thought, Alton is doing something on Soju?! Could this guy be any cooler? Well, after reading the article it turns out A-B is Anheuser Busch, and not our friend, Alton Brown. Oh well. Come on! It was a logical assumption! Food. Alton Brown… They just go together.

Anyway, A-B is going to be distributing a brand of soju called, “Ku”. For the non-initiated, soju is a wonderfully evil drink. The article refers to it as a lower octane vodka, which I can agree with. The danger is it goes down just as easily as vodka. That is, as long as you are drinking some decent soju. Not that unholy $0.50/bottle crap at the corner store across from my old house in Taegu. I was young and broke — what was I supposed to do? Because of this, soju got a bit of a bad rap in my social circles.

In my later, more fiscally healthy years, however, soju has made a comeback. Recently I decided to initiate one of my buddies into the realm of soju. With that corner store crap, it truly was an initiation. The taste was more a kin to formaldehyde than an alcoholic drink. I chose Cham-I-Sul soju by Jinro. I’m told it’s called ‘Charm’. Anyway, let’s proceed before I totally butcher the korean language and further make myself look like the white guy that I am. This soju was nothing short of Damn Tasty!

So, I’ve rekindled my love of this Korean beverage, and just wanted to share with you folks the wonderful thing that soju is. Go get some Dok-Boki, and a bottle of soju and have a blast!

Alton’s Back on the Asphalt!

by Slack, on March 8th, 2007

Alton Brown. I could be called a fanboy of Alton Brown and all the shows he does. I don’t have many passions, but food is one of them. Alton is the geek of the food celebrity space, and being a fellow geek I think he’s pretty great. He even loves to ride motorcycles…

As many of you Alton fans may know, he not too long ago combined the love of motorcycles with the love of food in a show called Feasting on Asphalt. Being a rider and a foodie, this show was like a godsend! The idea is great, the casts’ chemistry is perfect, and it’s going to be back for a second season!! Anyway, that is the whole point of this post:

Feasting on Asphalt is coming back and I’m damn happy about that!

We’re also prepping a second season of Feasting On Asphalt which will expand from four to six episodes tracing the length of the Mississippi river.
