Birthdays and Bad Health…
by Slack, on May 7th, 2007
So, another birthday comes and passes. I’m 25 for the 7th time, though I do feel like I’m 55 sometimes. I find myself with the desire to get an AARP card, and buy an RV. Well, F that, I decided. It’s time to get healthy again. I’ve let this downward spiral of bad eating, and unhealthy vices wear away at me and I’m not going to take it anymore! Time to get fit, get healthy, and get on with life!
I just quit smoking. That’s my first step in this whole Healthier Me thing goin on. I mean, really. I have asthma for fuck sake. Smoking is about the stupidest thing I could do next to drinking a glass of anti-freeze. So, there, I’m done. I’m going to use the patches this time, and I’ve got to come up with some kind of reward for myself to look forward to. Something other than the whole Not Getting Cancer thing. I need something tangible!! More on that later. Thinking is not my strong suit on Mondays…
Next step will be eating healthier. Not really different food, because I don’t have TERRIBLE eating habits, I just eat too much. I will eat out less at fast food joints, and try to have home cooked meals more often. Then it’s just really watching my fat intake and calorie intake.
The final step will be to begin exercising more. I can’t live with a restricted eating diet, so I figure I’m going to have to counter my love of food with my hate of exercise. I think I’ll get a ten-speed and do some riding. I love riding afterall…
Anyway, wish me luck — or don’t. Here we go again! ;)
Hey Slack -
‘Bout Damn Time, Boy! Stick to it - I know you can kick the deathrolls. Didn’t know about the asthma - that just plain sucks. We’re working on the “less eating, more exercise” thing over here as well. I hate exercise without a purpose (like a treadmill) so we’ve adopted an retired racing greyhound named “Baker”. He’s white with small gray dots and is a big 78 lb boy that I walk in the mornings. I enjoy nothing more than seeing the neighbors pick-up and take their snack sized pets indoor when we walk by. Ha!
Say Hello to Heidi & Rhys for me!
Happy Birthday!
Here we go!! I think this time I’m gonna kick it!!
Gratz on the Greyhound!! They’re a handful from what I hear!
Hi to the family!! :)
Naw, greyhounds are 45 mile per hour couch potatoes. Generally easy going, usually good with kids and rarely bark - what more could you ask for? :)
