What Happened to the Family Unit?

by Slack, on August 5th, 2007

Let me start this post by saying I’m not judging. I’m just making some observations, and raising a question or two.

When you become a parent you start noticing things you never noticed before. Your perspective changes on a lot of things. To be cliche, it changes your life. Blaaaaaah, I know. It’s a cliche for a reason, though. Those annoying kids at the restaurants won’t bother you quite as much because you understand the plight of the new parent. You start seriously thinking about the image you project — if you haven’t already. EVERYTHING else in your life becomes less important. It gives you a new perspective.

More after the jump.

Slack’s Top Ten Keywords

by Slack, on August 1st, 2007

So, I used to do a thing where I would post the top ten keywords people used to find my site. I thought I’d start doing that again, as the results were often interesting. So, here they are!

10. soju experience

9. slack’s place

8. patron saint motorcyclists

7. motorcycle wisdom

6. kickstand removal hayabusa

5. busa + “motivational posters”

4. armoral on motorcycle tires

3. armoral motorcycle tires

2. close archive “operation failed” “object could not be found”

And the number one keyword(s) people used to find my little blemish on the internet was….

1. the soju experience

Back to .NET!

by Slack, on August 1st, 2007

The last couple weeks I’ve been entrenched in the PHP side of the house. I say that like it’s a bad thing, but it really isn’t. It was nice getting back to some familiar ground. I’ve always loved PHP, and I still do. I wish it were more popular.

I was tasked with working on a small project for Heidi and I finally reached a point where it’s “done”. At least more “done” than most projects I work on. It’s actually a pretty satisfying feeling, finishing something. It’s been awhile.

With that under my belt, it’s time to get back to .NET for awhile before everything I’ve learned seeps out my left ear. I’m working on getting a billing system done for House Trevethan so that I can better billing my clients. Right now, I just use PayPal buttons. It works, but it’s hardly an efficient method and it certainly isn’t “cool”!

So, off to work on that for a few days at least, and then it’s back to the PHP side of the house again to develop another of my web property ideas.
