EmoCrats…

I just wanted to vent about the emotionally charged arguments you get from the Dems and the Reps during election time. It saddens me to see this type of thing every time. I’m involved in a political talk show right now. One of the things I like about the show is that it actually seeks to explore the substance behind the rhetoric (if there is any at all to begin with).
“Palin’s daughter is pregnant! That’s just AWESOME! Hilarious!!” I’m told… Let’s look deeper? What are the circumstances? What’s the context? Talk to me about WHY this makes her unfit to serve.
“McCain stopped his campaign! OMG He’s scared!!!” Has he said as much? Ok, let’s just take the statement at face value and run with it. That’s smart.
“McCain isn’t familiar with email and other technology!!” Ok… !? I’m sure he doesn’t know how to build a nuclear bomb, either… Or make a proper pot of kimchi… Or do a cartwheel…
“McCain can’t even do a proper, energetic thumbs up!” Jeebus, don’t get me started on that one.
There are equally as many for Obama, and I’m not trying to deny that — so spin down those email clients if you are about to remind me of that.
And my god, could each side just quit taking pot shots at the other? How about campaigning? Just campaign… Don’t campaign AGAINST the other person. We’re all Americans. Let’s stand together for once…
I call it the FOX effect! :: makes jazz hands :: I don’t claim to be the smartest person politically at all, but I can pick out substance on both sides if I see it. Both candidates have issues, and I’ll acknowledge them, but I just HATE it when people bring me emotionally charged rhetoric that has no substance at all. It’s retarded, and you are just making yourself look like a fool.
On another note, I would love to know what each candidates’ stances are on technology issues! Anyway, that’s my small afternoon rant. Happy Thursday, folks!
Since you are so CHARGED up and seeking to delve deeper into these questions why not take a “deeper” look at Palin yourself. Talk to me about WHY she IS qualified to run our country in the event something were to happen to McCain. The pregnancy issues, blah blah blah thats all noise and happens during every campaign, even I look past it though I may laugh.
The Republicans were on top of the world with the “Palin Effect” that seemed to super charge their campaign, and it did, and it was pretty amazing. Now take another look. The Couric interview alone should be enough to make you delve a little deeper. You want to know the circumstances behind it? She is not fit/qualified. That is the circumstance.
The comments about McCain not being savvy and up to date should be a sign to you. You get caught up in the “noise” and miss the point. People are concerned about their children. We live in a much different world now than we did when McCain was a POW. Our kids and our future demand someone who is in touch. McCain’s perfect plan, as he put it himself, divert all funds to Defense and Vets. Awesome. My kids will flourish under that.

Ok, let’s. In a nutshell, I believe Palin has the people’s best interests in primary focus. You can look to her whistle blowing during her term as Chair of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. I think she will strive to change things for the better of the people, and I think McCain will provide the strength to help her see these things through.
She has been the head of local governments. I think this experience is crucial. Especially when you are gunning for an office of leadership like the Presidency or Vice Presidency.
She has shown the courage to rock the boat while running these local governments as well — rather than accepting status quo.
Alaska’s revenues doubled while she was in office, and it still has no sales or income taxes. I’d say that’s a pretty clear picture on her feeling on taxing the people.
She supports my right to bear arms — and I’m not talking about for hunting.
She supports using local resources, including in ANWR. Don’t kid yourself, this *IS* the first step toward getting off of oil based fuels — let alone just getting off of foreign oil dependency.
“You want to know the circumstances behind it? She is not fit/qualified. That is the circumstance.”
Actually, that’s a meaningless statement void of anything worth analyzing… Those are exactly the generalizations that I’m talking about. WHY is she unfit? WHY is she not qualified?
“McCain’s perfect plan, as he put it himself, divert all funds to Defense and Vets. Awesome. My kids will flourish under that.”
Which perfect plan? I wasn’t aware that he was going to divert ALL funding to defense and vets! You’re right, that is pretty stupid. What about all the other things? Federal highways, education, science and research, etc… These are all going to get no funding? Man, we are in trouble!
Lastly, I believe that the Federal Government is in place to protect our freedoms from foreign threats. It should have even less involvement in local government than it does today. The President of the United States commands one of the most potent and deadly weapons on the planet — the American Soldier. Personally I want someone in that chair who has first hand combat experience, especially during this time of massive deployments and multiple fronts. The real world is far from ideal and I want someone who will accept the realities of this world rather than someone who only dreams of a better place. You have to build the road before you can get to the wizard. :)
Ok, your turn. Why are Obama and Biden qualified?
I agree Chris, she is not qualified. Slack has as much experience as she does except that Slack has actually been out of the country more than once in his life and had a passport before 30. I also pray and I’m not one for praying but I pray that Slack will teach his kids about birth control. :)
Anyway, this is not a fight against her anyway. By picking her as his running mate McCain has shown what type of Maverick decisions we can expect from his presidency. Kinda like saying you will stop your campaign because there is an emergency in Washington and dissing Letterman by canceling his show because of same said emergency. Then to find out he stayed another day in New York (What about Washington again?). That to me, screams fear. If there was an emergency which he could help with why was he in New York? If he has faith (nasty word) in his Vice pick why suspend the campaign couldn’t she handle continuing to be out there pushing his agenda? I just see these as dumb moves.
As for Obama, I’m not going to argue why he should be president. The reason I want him to be president is simple, I trust him more. I shook his hand and believe that he will be working in the best interest of the people. He does after all only have one house. I know he is a politician but a new breed we haven’t seen.
Obama is the first from my generation that I have the opportunity to vote for and I trust my generation more than those who grew up with no civil rights, McCarthy hearings, segregation, the Shaw, Anwar Sadat and other dictators we put in power around the world.
I will be happy to point out the stupid moves Obama has made as well……..Uh still thinking…..Nope haven’t found any yet…..his preacher?? no that’s not it…. didn’t he say he invented the internet… no that’s not him. hmm can’t find any that matter yet but will keep looking.
Lack of government overview has been the main cause of our current economic status. I like the idea that they keep things safe at home more than abroad or at least they should.
Nobody is gonna take your gun Slack no matter what they say. We aren’t ready for that civil war yet. The first step to getting off oil is to start getting off oil. You are talking about getting rid of middle eastern oil. Drive less, carpool, you can do your part by riding a bike but like your gonna ride a bike even once a week to work (without an engine).
I believe that the government is in place to protect our freedoms be they domestic or foreign.
New president on the way woo whoo,
Greg
LOL! Did you just criticize me about not riding a bicycle more?! LOL!!! About getting off oil dependencies with regard to my vehicles? You have an FJ, a minivan, a 1979 tour bus, a motorcycle, a double decker Bristol, and a pack of dirt recreation vehicles, right? There’s probably more oil sitting on your property than I use in a month! LOL Do you even own a bicycle?!
The minivan transports all soon to be 7 of us. The bus never moves and is a city bus running on diesel. It never moves anyway. The bikes haven’t been ridden for years. I have no excuse for the FJ other than it does get better gas than my old suburban did and it gets us through snow when needed. The double decker is s lawn ornament.
I have not owned a bicycle for years but I also walk to work most of the month. I bet I put on less mileage per week with 6 in the family than you do with 3. But yeah if I lived in the city I would ride a bike these days. (haha yeah right) Then again I will never live in a big city again either.
We just need a star trek world man.
Agreed, man! :-D Beam me up!
