Up Late… Sleeping on Couch…

by Slack, on March 26th, 2008

InsomniaIf you know me well, you know on my planet the day is 36 hours long. Thus creating an optimal sleep cycle of 10 hours and then 26 hours of work, play, and so forth. Well, here on fucking Earth, your day is 24 hours long, thus creating a gradually progressing state of sleeplessness and insanity. At least for me.

As you also know recent events have found me jobless for the first time in 11 or so years (you can barely count that brief stint after TPM). So, without much obligation to live by the 24 hour clock, I’ve fallen into my normal and natural schedule. I feel rested and great. My family is annoyed and hating me, however (sorry). Now with another job on the horizon, it is time to get back on the oh so wonderful 24 hour schedule and try blending in with you Earthlings again.

Chickens Wear Glasses

by Slack, on March 5th, 2008

Just a quickie here. Heidi and I were sleeping last night. Rhys is sick right now, so he is sleeping in our room. Anyway, he’s FINALLY in deep sleep, and then he just blurts out, “OMG! That chicken has the same glasses you do!!!”. Then he’s right back asleep. Heidi and I nearly died of laughter. :)

Wow! Ok, just had to post this find. Who was the moron who thought this idea was good? This is wrong on so many levels. Anyway, enjoy, courtesy of Break.com.

Truckin’ Along…

by Slack, on February 21st, 2008

Happy Thursday, gang! We’re almost to the weekend! Have you survived?

All things are mostly the same in my neck of the woods. Came across a pretty interesting communication this week. Currently, I work for a software company (that in itself is another story). We are tied to the education industry, and that’s all I’ll say about that. But, there was a communication I was privy to between Teacher X and Sales Person Y. I just had to share this little pearl. You can guess how I feel about the No Child Left Behind deal… :: rolls eyes ::

Teacher X: We learned so much, and I have already begun implementing some of the suggestions you made concerning my ELL students. First thing this morning, I changed their passing score to be 70% rather than 80% on all tests. Hopefully, they will begin experiencing more success now. I have also taken out all lessons beyond 20 for my first grade students. That means that several are very nearly ready to exit the program!

Sales Person Y: I meant what I said when speaking of you being a MODEL implementation! Awesome job!

Come on… Really?

In other news, the new project is moving along. I’m getting probably one feature finished every day or two. Wish I had more time to concentrate on the code, but… I don’t. Both Heidi and I are pretty excited about this new project. I think it’s going to be fun! It’s been a learning experience for sure. At the very least it will be something to add to my portfolio. :)

Well, have a happy Thursday, and see you on the flipside.

Vegetarians…

I’m so glad my wife isn’t one of those preachy, meat-hater, vegetarian types… Even she’d get a kick out of this comic. :)
