Ducks, Smoking, and .NET

by Slack, on June 7th, 2007

I wish I could figure out the little things that really charge your batteries. You know what I’m talking about. Some days, you just feel like you could take the world and kick its ass as easy as crushing the head of a duckling with your motorcycle’s front tire as you speed down Golf Links — and WHY ARE THERE DUCKS ON GOLF LINKS!? But, I digress.

Today was one of those days for me. I just feel good for some reason. Not sure why, because honestly, things aren’t really any better than they were yesterday. Don’t bother clicking on Comment, Jason, I’m not gonna bitch this time. :-P

I’m still a non-smoker, and it’s been harder than I thought it would be at first to get on the band wagon again, but I’m still holding. Also, Stussyman just pinged me and said he is quitting on Monday. Awesome! Good luck, brah, but I would highly suggest the patch. Cold turkey is tough shit. Anyway, you can do it! I still say we should bet something and let Heidi and Rach supervise it. :)

.NET is still not clicking… I think I’ve reached that point I always do where I’ll be stuck for a month or so before it finally just clicks… I think I need a break. So, tonight I’m doing that. Not sure what I will do, but I’m not coding.

St. Christopher and Other Patron Saints

by Slack, on May 31st, 2007

So, I was surfing my blogs and whatnots this morning when I came across a curious note from someone.

Has anyone else ever bought a piece of gear from Icon and discovered a medal of St. Christopher sewn into the pocket?

I happen to use Icon gear and now I’m super curious to check if my jacket has this charm sewn into it. St. Christopher is the patron saint of travellers. Speaking of Patron Saints, I don’t know if I’m the only one who didn’t know this, but holy shit there are a lot of patron saints! Even one for computers!! Am I the only one who finds that both strange that there is a saint for computers, and comforting that the church is moving with the times? hmmm maybe comforting isn’t the word…

Happy POETS Day

by Slack, on April 13th, 2007

Ahhh Friday. POETS Day, as its called. Piss on Everything, Tomorrow’s Saturday. It’s the day I usually ride my bike into work since I don’t have to wear the Monkey Suit. But, today, the roads were wet. I know, I know, you can ride when it’s wet! But, I have no rear fender and didn’t want a nice water streak on my back during work… What’s worse is the roads have now sufficiently dried… DOH!!! Definitely going to have to fit a ride in this weekend. Better news, one of my rider friends is getting himself a new ZX-9 — well, new to him anyway. So, I’ll be able to go riding with him and perhaps he can teach this old dog some new tricks.

In other news, our first weekly Eve Night was a miserable disaster. I was the only corp member to show up! LOL Rick had another spectacular excuse — something about having no power in his house, sheesh! ;) Drew just didn’t show — but, that’s Drew. Gotta love him. Kev’s in LA working. Haven’t seen Ki or Brian in game in forever, and Chris has yet to join!!! JOIN UP ALREADY, DUDER!!! Click here to do it so I get credit. ;) We’re getting away from mining it seems, and leaning towards more PvP type actions. Can’t wait to get into a good fray with some other capsuleers.

Finally, tonight is date night! I have a hot date with a sexy redhead, so nothing’s bringing me down! :)

Take care out there!

Alton’s Back on the Asphalt!

by Slack, on March 8th, 2007

Alton Brown. I could be called a fanboy of Alton Brown and all the shows he does. I don’t have many passions, but food is one of them. Alton is the geek of the food celebrity space, and being a fellow geek I think he’s pretty great. He even loves to ride motorcycles…

As many of you Alton fans may know, he not too long ago combined the love of motorcycles with the love of food in a show called Feasting on Asphalt. Being a rider and a foodie, this show was like a godsend! The idea is great, the casts’ chemistry is perfect, and it’s going to be back for a second season!! Anyway, that is the whole point of this post:

Feasting on Asphalt is coming back and I’m damn happy about that!

We’re also prepping a second season of Feasting On Asphalt which will expand from four to six episodes tracing the length of the Mississippi river.

Kawasaki ZX-14

by Slack, on November 3rd, 2006

Now being called the fastest, most powerful production bike on the planet… I don’t know about you, but I still think it’s frakkin ugly, and my heart still rests with the Busa… Anyway, the gang at Fifth Gear got a hold of the Ninja and gave her a run. Very impressive bike, but still ugly. :) hahhahahaha

Two Wheeled Therapy

by Slack, on September 20th, 2006

Just got done putting about 60 miles on the bike. Nothing quite like it, and I thought I drop a few lines about it. Reality got ya down? Games aren’t giving you that satisfaction you need? Nothing good on TV? Just throw a leg over your bike, and ride. It’s been my after-work pasttime of late.

I get home around 11:30pm. Just about when Heidi is ready to crash out and of course just getting home from work, I’m usually neither in the mood to crash, or work. I really should be working, but lately the motivation has been sucked out of me. Don’t worry, Joel, I got your email, and will be starting work on your new GUI here soon. :)

Anyway, my usual path on my night rides lately take me downtown to check on the drunks as I get down there just about when people are calling it a night. Do a few laps around the downtown area, and then up Speedway all the way east, cut south and hit the interstate and head back downtown. Repeat as necessary.

Tonight I had a nice encounter with a VERY nice Supra. I think he was out getting some speed therapy as well. He gave me a demonstration of what that car can do, and it is quite impressive, I must say. I gave a couple speed demos to a few guys in a truck on Aviation hwy, and of course I had to return the favor for Mr. Surpa… My demo ended up at a red light right next to a cop, however… Thankfully he didn’t want to hassle me, or didn’t notice that I came up really quick in the mirror. heh.

It’s funny the added positive attention a bike can give ya. You’ll never get tired of the people who give you that nod of approval, or give ya that “pop a wheelie” sign. :) The best are the kids who just go nuts pointing and whooping at your bike. Half the time the parents look at you with that disapproval like your some kind of deviant because you choose to ride, and the other half of the time you’ll get a grin from them. Ahhhh, it never gets old. :)

Anyway, it’s time for me to get to bed. Another night of boredom put behind me. So, yeah, if you haven’t ridden, I’d highly recommend hopping on a bike either as the pilot or a passenger and just ride. :) You’ll be glad you did. ;) It’ll melt all your troubles away — at least for the moment.
