Same Ol, Same Ol

by Slack, on April 10th, 2005

Well, it’s pretty much the same ol shit around here… I keep meaning to write about something interesting, but nothing interesting ever happens! LOL

Rhys is steadily getting better and better. His reflux has all but stopped — knock on wood… We don’t have to worry so much anymore at night when we put him to bed. If he’s wailing, these days it’s more likely he’s throwing a fit and not laying in a puddle of puke. :)

Had a poker game on Friday and got to see some old friends. It was a nice time and I ended the night up $1.20 :-D I’m a high roller, what can I say. :)

In other news, we’ve been invited to THREE weddings! Count em! THREE! Looks like everyone had the same idea or something. Heidi’s best friend, Jess, is one of the brides I am talking about, and since Heidi will be in the wedding party, we will be going to Jess’ wedding for sure. I don’t think we’ll be able to swing the other weddings and that’s a bummer, but we can only do so much. :( On the plus side, all three couples are quality and I expect them to last the long run. :) That’s so refreshing to see. :)

The biggest news as of late is I quit smoking… Yes, I know, here we go again. Hopefully this time it will stick. So, we’ll see. :)

Well, that’s about it around these parts…

Enjoy The Silence….

by Slack, on March 11th, 2005

Ok, so I’m sitting here checking my mail in this noisy ass computer room. It’s noisy since I can’t afford to buy a real case. My rack and my cases are so bad I’d have to work on them for a week straight just to get to loser status. Put together a grand imagination, a severe lack of patience, and a dremel… That should properly paint the picture that is my illustrious computer rack…

ANYWAY, I’m sitting here with Heidi and I whine to her that I wish we had music in the bedroom… Because well, music is one of the only things that can get the voices in my head on the same page so to speak. How’d we get here you ask? Well, because it so fucking noisy in this room… I wear headphones and listen to music most of the time, and I was just using this as a chance to whine to my wife about how I would sleep so much better if we could listen to music in the bedroom…

So, why don’t we purchase a stereo for back there? Well, here’s our dilemna. She CAN’T sleep with music on… And I have DIFFICULTY sleeping without it… It seems to bug her the most, so she wins out, and I get silence… I HATE SILENCE. :)

Her response to my whining was something along the lines of, “You are a freak! If you put a poll out there you’d find the vast majority of people can’t sleep with music either!”

So I did. :) Cast your vote and help me show Heidi that she’s wrong! :-D

Click here to vote or view results!

PS: She also added, after I told her that I WILL put up a poll, “And if the poll says that more people sleep with music, it’s because all your geeky friends are the one’s who voted!!” LMAO!! I love my wife. :)

New Styling!

by Slack, on November 21st, 2004

Ok, so this weekend I decided to make it my goal to learn the PHPTemplate engine for Drupal! Well, I have at the very least a good grasp of it now! I’ve changed the styling around on the site to reflect a more custom look rather than the cookie cutter theme that I was using. This one was designed from the ground up! I still have some fine tuning to do to finish it up, but I’ve run out of go-go juice… Let me know what you think of the new look - good or bad! :D

Speed Update!

by Slack, on November 8th, 2004

Ok, time for a quickie catch-me-up… Buckle up, here goes:

I voted! Did you? Does it really matter this time around tho? Am I the only one who feels that way?

Happy Halloween gone by! We holed up inside and didn’t hand out candy. Nor did Rhys get to go trick or treating… RSV season and all…

Went dirtbike riding for the first time. Had a blast. Still not quite comfortable on the dirt, but i’ll get there. I sure would like to have my own bike instead of borrowing tho. :)

I started smoking again… Yeah yeah. So sue me. I’m only friggin human.

Work has been crazy friggin busy lately, and I’m feelin the Spacely love. :D

Life is just an exciting rocket ride through the cosmos here! ::roll::

Thank you Penn & Teller…

by Slack, on October 27th, 2004

Have you seen Penn & Teller’s Bullshit? If not, you must… Unless you are a mindless idiot who is content with following a nameless, faceless sheep herder, I think Bullshit would be something you would enjoy. Otherwise you should cover your eyes and ears and continue to believe the random BS that these freaks are feeding to your face. :) I mean, my god there is such truth to the saying “there is one born everyday!” ::bash::

Class is Done…

by Slack, on October 22nd, 2004

Class is finally done. All in all it was a great class. I sure wouldn’t have paid what Spacely paid for it, though. At least not to send *me* to it. I am glad I went however, as it gave me a bit of encouragement towards the test. If that class was meant to prep someone for the 70-270 test, then I should be fine. We’ll see however, as logic is often a scarce trait in the Microsoft world… I’ll be taking my practice test here soon, and will update with the results. If I can take the practice test and score 90% or above on all sections, then I can bring that into my real test and the testing facility will pick up the cost of my passing test if I were to fail beforehand. So, basically, if I fail once and then pass, I only pay for one test. That’s a bit of a relief for me. :)

Our teacher, as I said before was quite good. My only problem with the course was the subject matter. It was (1) Microsoft and (2) not advanced enough to keep me awake. The problem I have with the tests is the terminology that Microsoft uses, and their “Best Practices” which often aren’t practical in the real world - go figure. Anyway, once I pass this friggin test, that should make it that I can get promoted at Spacely, and get a pay raise out of it. More importantly, it will free me to use my spare time towards the Open Source realm…

We shall see…
