Ok, if you haven’t been roller skating in.. oh… over 20 years, you will find it is not quite like swimming. You DO in fact forget how to do it. It will come back to you quick enough, but DUDE, I forgot just how difficult roller skating was. I went to my neice’s birthday party and felt the call of the rink! Little known fact about Slack: He’s a skate junkie. Don’t you judge me!

Heidi and I walked Rhys up and down beginner’s alley. He caught on pretty quick. He’s not ready for the beginners rink yet, but he’s getting there. If he sticks with it he’ll get it. Unfortunately, the perfectionist in him, combined with his impatience, caused for a very frustrated little boy. But even in light of all that, he did quite well.

So, after I could take it no longer, I slapped on a pair of skates. Ready to show my wife how I can tear the rink up, I push off from the wall and immediately start flailing my arms around like I’m trying to swat a wasp or something. It was embarrassing… LOL But, it was fun. And you know what? I think I will be goin back there! HA! Great way to get exercise! Who wants to go skating? :)

… And by YAY, I mean, WTF HAPPENED!? I feel so old. I need to start exercising again and watching what I’m eating. My god, remember the times when you didn’t have to worry about that shit? It’s like life is just one big sick joke sometimes. But, alas, I’m wiser, and other stuff that you get with age (not all good things). My birthday was yesterday, and we didn’t do much of anything special. My son made me a really nice card with unidentifiable shapes on it that mommy labeled for him. My wife got me a rather unpleasant card with a picture of some fat dude in daisy dukes… Christ. Well, at least I don’t look as bad as THAT! hahahahah She also made me a Texas Sheet cake (which has made dieting hard for both of us). OMG that cake is AWESOME! LOVE IT. That and the sweet cream ice cream from Cold Stone. DAMN! Total diet buster.

Not much news other than that. Life as usual. ;) Just a year closer to the finish line. ha!
