A real-time account of life among the Earthlings…

Go Go Gadget Catharsis

by Slack, on February 28th, 2008

Long week that seems to have flown by. That never seems to be a good thing for me. Means that towards the end of the week, I’m left spinning, and I don’t really know what happened. Thankfully this type of week is not a “common” thing for me. But, it’s the kind of week I had this week.

Work has been extraordinarily bad this week. Obviously, since I am writing about it. Of course I wont go into detail for a list of reasons (you can quit rolling your eyes, Jason).

So, what to do? Well, a nice camping trip with the boys sounds like a perfect remedy for reality blues. So, that’s what we’re doing this weekend. Turns out Sam is going to settle down with his girl, and his bachelor party will be a camping trip. I can get behind that. So, tomorrow night, I have to get my scotch packed up, get the gun packed up, dig out my paintball markers, find our tent and other campish stuff, and then it’s off to … uhm… somewhere… Guess I should find out where we are going…

Hope everyone has a splended weekend. :)

How Was Your Weekend?

by Slack, on February 24th, 2008

Pretty uneventful weekend in our neck of the woods. The most exciting thing about this weekend was my allergic reaction to my cat… He was being so nice, and acting like he missed me or something. So, I pet him. Just a little. Not even a minute long. Next thing I know my eye starts feeling funny. Before I know it my eye is swelled up so big I can’t open it. I looked like Rocky Balboa after a fight with Mr T. Just for the record, Clartin doesn’t help… I know, why I thought it would I have no idea. Dimetap no worky either. Benadryl finally did the trick. OMG.

Other than that, the other news is Heidi and Rhys are back to school tomorrow. Of course I am back to work tomorrow as well. Hopefully I can make it through the week quickly and quietly. Well, here we go! Let’s see what Monday has to throw at us!

Self Improvement Check Up

by Slack, on January 30th, 2008

So, how am I doing so far? Well, I’m not going in 5th gear like I’ve tried in the past. YES! I’ve tried. Which is why I’m not doing that this time: I failed so miserably in the past that most of you who know me didn’t even notice that I was trying to improve anything!

So, I’m concentrating on a couple few things, in a very particular order:

1) QUIT SMOKING – How fucking long have I been smoking? Ridiculous long time. I remember when me and buddy of mine named Jason — no no, the other Jason — had our first drag off a cigarette at the ripe old age of 12. We can thank his grandpa for the left over K-rations and the rancid ass Lucky Strikes that were left in them. Thus began my adventure into Smokerville. Ahhh what a shit filled experience it’s been. I mean, if you could equate taste to a texture, smoking would be like sandpaper. Mmmm! Good times. Nine days into my quitting and so far so good! Thanks Nicoderm!! I saw what the pills do to a friend of mine, so I’m not touching that shit.

2) Remotivate at work – Why? Good question. If you get a good answer let me know. I’m going to give it my best shot to remotivate myself and not feel like I’m caught under an epileptic hippo watching Pokemon. Give yourself a pat on the back if you get that reference. Actually no.. You should probably get out more if you get that reference. … Actually I should probably get out more for making that reference…

3) Diet – Yep. Diet. Not that I’m going to hit this one hard. This is my tertiary “would-be-nice” goal. The “red-shirt” on my list if you will. :) But, if I can manage to do better on my diet and exercise, that’s bad ass. Not to mention, I’m sure this has a huge bit to do with numbers 1 and 2.

So, that’s where I’m at. Hope everyone out there is doing well, and all that happy shit. Chat at ya later!

Rockin the 3 Day Weekend…

by Slack, on January 19th, 2008

NOT!!! Nope, I don’t get a three day weekend this weekend and that makes me sad. I’m happy for all you guys who do get to rock the weekend, though. God, and a three day weekend would just be friggin awesome right about now. Everything is so damn crazy at work, and I’m so burnt…

In other news, I did get to work on my Top Secret new project a bit last night, and I’ll do some more tonight. I need to get that damn thing live. Hopefully I’ll see some cash from this new project. If not, it will be a learning experience, and I will move on to the next one. ;)

In just a few here, we are headed to Lowe’s to get wood for Heidi’s garden boxes. It will be good to get that up and done for her. She’s as burnt as I am, and needs an outlet. Ahhh life. :)

Ok, all for now. Will write more if I find something interesting!

Workin on a Saturday

by Slack, on January 5th, 2008

Happy Saturday peeps! I’m stuck at work today. Not as bad as it sounds. We are having our big sales meeting this weekend and being one of the two geeks on staff, I’m relegated to the A/V Club… If someone would have told me about the curse of the A/V Club when I joined it in grade school, I never would have done it! ;)

My official job for this event is to basically ensure that all of our out of town sales reps get the new software installed on their machines. So, my counterpart and I sit in this training room and the reps drop their laptops off and we install the software. Additional to that, we are also crisis runners in case of any electronical acts of god…

Today is the continuation of the training from yesterday, so my counterpart and I should have a relatively quiet morning as most of the installs were done yesterday. So that’s gonna be nice. I brought my book and will just hang out in back and enjoy. ;) At least that’s the plan.

BOO!!! I’m MONDAY! (Post-a-Day, day 10)

by Slack, on December 10th, 2007

Happy Monday, kiddos! Hope your weekend was filled with joy and wonderfulness. Our weekend wasn’t bad at all. It was a bit busy, but not the annoying, pull my hair out busy. Perhaps we are just in a better head space now? Well, ok, we were in a better head space on Sunday. Saturday wasn’t all joy and wonderfulness… But, that’s another story.

So, Sunday, Heidi and I went to a brunch hosted by my boss. The place it was held was beautiful, and Heidi and I had not been there before, so it was a very nice treat. The food was fantastalicious and there was plenty to choose from for the less evolved people in the party (those plant eaters). For the fully evolved carnivores there was plenty of dead, sliced critter to choose from. FANTASTIC!

I think the best part was the Mimosa’s that they kept shoving down your throat. All of a sudden, brunches are awesome to me! :)

Have a spanktacular Monday, and carry it through to the weekend! Let’s string Monday up by it’s neck and beat it silly with a lead pipe. PRING!!!
